UMSurabaya will become a facilitator for Singapore Polytechnic students in the LeX Program.

In a significant step towards strengthening global academic partnerships, UMSurabaya and Singapore Polytechnic renewed their MoU to extend their partnership. This activity was held on 29 May to 1 June 2023, the signing ceremony also coincided with facilitator training activities where UMSurabaya was also invited to participate in the event in preparation for the Learning Express (LeX) program.

 

UMSurabaya has the opportunity to become a facilitator for the Learning Express (LeX) program by Singapore Polytechnic. This program will be implemented in Lamongan, East Java by raising the local potential of the north coast in Paciran District, Lamongan, East Java. There will be 30 students, 3 facilitators, and 1 coordinator from Singapore Polytechnic will come to Indonesia on September 2023 to October 2023.

 

Learning Express (LeX) is a multi-national, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary programme that addresses local complex problems in complex settings rather than simplified problems in isolation. It involves students in activities that address local needs while developing their academic skills and commitment to the community. Students embarking on an exciting 12 days journey to discover the world and themselves. Using Design Thinking and working with a multinational team to offer an innovative solution to improve the lives of a local community.

 

Vice Rector IV UMSurabaya, Dr. Mundakir, S.Kep., M.Kep., Ns. said that KUIK as a facilitator connecting the needs of universities with foreign partners so there needs to be breakthrough activities that can make UMSurabaya to become a great university and be known in Asia, especially in Southeast Asia.

Head of International Office and Partnership UMSurabaya, Pramudana Ihsan also added that the agenda for extending this collaboration is a manifestation of discussions in 2019, which is LeX should have planned to hold in 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic the activity was postponed.

 

During the signing ceremony, representatives from both universities expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration and emphasized the mutual benefits that would arise from this partnership. They highlighted the importance of global academic networks in today's interconnected world and stressed the need for international cooperation to address global challenges effectively.

This collaboration is expected to yield fruitful outcomes and contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development of future leaders in various fields.
