UMSurabaya held an International Short Course with participants from Mahidol University

Mahidol University made a visit to Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UMSurabaya). This visit was a form of collaboration between the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMSurabaya and Mahidol University, Thailand. This activity was held directly on Thursday (09/02) in the Theater Room floor 7, Faculty of Medicine Building, and was attended by 22 students and 3 lecturers from Mahidol University. Dr. Ratno Abidin, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Dean of FKIP UMSurabaya, Deputy Dean I and Deputy Dean II, All Heads of FKIP Study Programs, and FKIP lecturers warmly welcomed the arrival of the students from Mahidol University.

This visit was carried out to attend an international short course with the theme "Local Wisdom-Based Character Education Development in the Digital Era" by Dr. dr. Mas'ula, MA. as a presenter at the event. Previously, the participants were also invited to tour the campus and visit several places within the UMSurabaya campus, one of which was the Microbiology–Parasitology Lab in At-Tauhid Tower. The next agenda was followed by the appearance of foreign students from UMSurabaya, who performed a poetry reading by Khairil Anwar and continued with an introduction to Indonesian culture. UMSurabaya presented a very interesting and energetic traditional dance performance. Apart from that, the participants were also introduced to typical Indonesian food and drinks, namely Pecel and Jamu. The students from Thailand were very enthusiastic about trying the food. The event continued with a game session where the participants were challenged to make their own Pecel and try a type of Jamu that is known for its bitter taste. The event was closed by giving prizes to the challenge winners.

This visit is expected to be one of the efforts to strengthen cooperation with foreign universities while simultaneously providing students with valuable knowledge and experience.
